Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are creating a unique one-of-a-kind experience for guests who will enjoy a variety of traditional and non-traditional elements for a royal wedding spectacular. Indeed, there have been whispers of food trucks, Spice Girls performances and a rumor that the bride herself may give a speech at the wedding reception.

While recent news has claimed that Meghan and Harry will offer guests an iced fruit cake per tradition, there’s also the big news of a different kind of cake altogether–the lemon and elderflower cake by Violet Bakery.

Created by Claire Ptak, this charming little London bakery prides itself on fresh, organic and seasonal ingredients with a speciality in adding floral accents, fresh fruit and fruit preserves to their colorful confections. In addition, they regularly dress up their tasty treats with brightly colored frostings in lilac and rose.

Claire Ptak is a natural choice for Meghan as cake baker as both women grew up in California and now find themselves living the London life. In addition, Meghan interviewed Ptak for a piece on her now defunct blog, The Tig.

Violet Bakery specializes in gourmet holiday treats like chocolate hazlenut scones for Easter and celebratory cupcakes in addition to whoopie pies, cinnamon rolls, butterscotch brownies and sunken souffle cakes. Famous Chef Jamie Oliver even called Ptak his favorite London cake creator.

And it’s likely that Harry and Meghan’s cake will be one-of-a-kind with special touches, whimsical finishes and festive florals.

And of course the cake will be decorated with elderflowers as noted in the (Kensington Palace Instagram) which typically appear in the late spring or early summer. In Celtic folklore, elder was often planted around homes for protection against evil spirits and bad energy. In addition, using the branches was reported to conjure up spirits while some believe that the elder tree attracts fairies and other mythical entities.
