Meghan Markle brought out all the spring vibes in her floral green Self-Portrait Cold Shoulder midi dress at the Australian High Commission when she stepped out with Prince Harry. The couple were met by Malcolm Turnbull, Prime Minister of Australia, and his wife Lucy Turnbull, in West London on a sunshine spiked day.

The royal pair spent the morning meeting with servicemen from both the Australia and the UK; they chatted with the PM and his wife about plans for the upcoming games discussion of the events for the over 500 athletes who will compete in Sydney.

One of Harry’s biggest passion projects, the Invictus Games uses sports to inspire recovery, rehabilitation and respect for those who serve their country.

At the reception Meghan once again surprised in a floral fashion statement by Self-Portrait paired with a Roland Mouret Classico crossbody bag and an Alexander McQueen Grain de Poudre blazer, which she worn previously with her tuxedo ensemble at the Endeavour Awards. She finished off the look with Manolo Blahnik BB pumps in black.

The dress was surprising not only because it was very feminine and frilly–something not typical in Meghan’s rolodex of more masculine stripes, monochromatic pieces and classic, simple separates but also because it was a colorful and stand-out style. The very modern pleated and ruffle midi also has black straps and a somewhat daring V-neck.

Perhaps listening to royal watchers who were not a fan of her recent strapless white Altuzzara pinstripe dress and her slung-over-the-shoulders blazer–Meghan didn’t remove her jacket for the reception and she lowered the price tag on her chosen style by around $1500. Plus, she selected a very modern midi that can’t be compared to a Kim Kardashian throwback.
