While the Queen has reportedly gifted Prince Harry and Meghan a few new homes, it’s been speculated that the couple’s favorite hideaway is not far from St. George’s Chapel on the grounds of Windsor where the royal twosome said ‘I do.’ The Queen is believed to have given her favorite grandson a very lavish wedding gift by offering him and his new bride Adelaide Cottage.

Perhaps it’s the sentimental value of the estate or maybe it’s because it’s far removed from the hustle and bustle of Kensington Palace (where Prince Harry and Meghan shared an apartment next to the Cambridge family) but this home is believed to be a favorite of Prince Harry and Meghan.

Adelaide Cottage has been a longtime residence for members of the royal family and it appears that this home has stolen a special place in the hearts of Harry and Meghan even more so than Nottingham Cottage. The English estate is only two miles from the castle where they tied the knot on May 19th. And according to The Sun, the  home is part of Crown Estate’s private 655-acre royal park and is reportedly very close to the Queen and Prince Philip’s private apartments. Perhaps, Meghan is spending teatime bonding with the Queen over their shared love of dogs and wine?

Since Meghan especially loves a cozy and contemporary home, she’s likely to include or incorporate a few key pieces inside their lavish newlywed nest. The royal adores clean and neutral furnishings that have a modern edginess but are still simple and beautiful. Overall, she prefers romantic and luxe touches like a vase filled with peonies, a metallic reed diffuser and shaggy rugs. Meghan’s style is Scandinavian mixed with modern minimalist.

Here’s a few pieces she’s likely to incorporate into their Adelaide Cottage home.

A Plush Rug

Meghan’s former Canadian abode included lots of shag rugs with diagonal patterns in cozy textures. Undoubtedly she will furnish the home she shares with Harry with similar floor coverings. She may even add rugs to her dressing room space or home office.

Harry and Meghan may be hearing the pitter patter of little feet soon that’s why more than one shag rug may be a necessity.

A Bit of Grecian Decor

According to The Daily Mail, Harry and Meghan’s Adelaide Cottage boasts a marble Graeco-Egyptian fireplace, which would necessitate a little Grecian decor like a handcrafted vase with a capiz shell design in a chain motif.

A Table with Flair

According to the heritage organization Historic England, the master bedroom of Adelaide Cottage features a “coved ceiling with gilded dolphins and rope ornament reused from the Royal yacht Royal George.” While this might be a bit ornate and old fashioned for Meghan’s contemporary style, the couple may try and decorate with vintage pieces that match the current decor scheme.

A Keepsake Book
Before she was Mrs. Prince Harry, Meghan lived as a single girl in Toronto. She filled her apartment with girly items like Diptyque candles, silver royalty diffusers and chunky coffee table books about high fashion. While she may have given up the single life, odds are she will still love her personal favorites from the past.
A Bed Fit for Royalty
