The Duchess of Cambridge battled a bit of wet weather for her visit to the Royal Opera House this morning. For the outing, the duchess recycled a plum peplum skirt suit by Oscar de la Renta that she had worn back in February 2017. Kate added her new Aspinal London crocodile handbag to the look as well as a new pair of Rupert Sanderson heels.

For the visit, Kate received a behind the scenes tour of the costume department and learned more about digital printing and dye techniques used to make the royal ballet costumes. The process is likely particularly intriguing to Kate as her great great grandfather owned a textile mill; the duchess even recognized many of the artisans who create the costumes. It’s also interesting to note that Princess Diana was patron of the English National Ballet.

The duchess even shared a hearty laugh with a few of the principal dancers including Lauren Cuthbertson — which is a fun coincidence as Duchess Kate wore a pair of earrings inspired by the dancer for her community garden visit this week.

For the visit, the duchess opted for a pretty purple palette.

It can be found at Orchard Mile. For footwear, the duchess went for Rupert Sanderson Nada pumps featuring a gold buckle detail. She completed the look with her Asprey Oak earrings.
