Before she was a duchess and future Queen consort, Kate Middleton lived like many other ‘commoners’ and found herself shacking up with a sibling. The future royal spent time with sister Pippa Middleton living in an apartment in the Chelsea neighborhood in the heart of London. And like most cash strapped young people, Kate and Pippa had a little help from mom and dad Carole and Michael Middleton, who purchased the luxe living quarters for their daughters in 2002. The spacious three-bedroom, three-story, two-bathroom home was reportedly uninhabited for possibly years before the Middletons listed the Old Church home for nearly two million in late 2018. The family made quite a profit as they purchased the home for just $980,000.

Here’s a look inside Kate and Pippa Middleton’s Old Apartment:

Pre-Duchess Dining

An inviting dining space with recessed lighting was likely the perfect place for Kate and Pippa to gossip over takeout. The roomy and airy space featured oak furnishings, a large ornate mirror plus built-in bookshelves and floral window treatments.

Living Like a Queen (almost)

The Middleton sisters could share a bucket of popcorn on one of two cozy sofas in the family room area. Decorated with abstract art, tan ottomans and an artificial orchid plant–this space was ideal for movie nights and TV time.

Another look at the dining room reveals more built-ins for storage as well as a collection of blue vases, country artwork and a large beige and red area rug. No doubt, Kate and Pippa loved hosting friends and family in the warm and inviting space.

Stairway to Sleep

Kate and Pippa’s home featured stairs leading to the second level of the apartment, which is configured with a double reception room with a fireplace, a kitchen with stainless steel appliances and a powder room. The bedrooms, including the master suite, are located on the third floor.

Kate’s Kitchen

Though not considered large, Kate and Pippa’s kitchen could easily be converted into a bigger or more gourmet cooking space. The new buyers of the property likely made renovations to modernize some areas of the ‘duchess’ dwelling.

Sleeping Beauty

On the third floor of Kate and Pippa’s girly abode is a master en suite with a beautiful view onto Justice walk and over the chimney pots of Old Chelsea. The room was decorated with heavy floral curtains, a large tan headboard and wooden bedside tables.

Date Night Prep

It’s fun to imagine how many times Kate and Pippa got glam in this elegant and updated bathroom with granite countertops and a large bath tub. This could be the spot where Kate primped before dates with a prince! Namely, Prince William!
