For the Duchess of Cambridge, a business engagement typically involves an ensemble comprised of a suit jacket, platform cork espadrille wedges (or nude heels) and a pair of dark navy pants. The mom of three has stuck with her winning workwear formula for years and it’s never failed to impress royal watchers and fashion critics alike. In fact, Kate is so loyal to her favorite ‘career casual’ clothing that she often wears them on repeat. And nowhere is Kate’s devotion to her professional pieces more apparent than her routine recycle of her favorite Smythe Duchess blazer.

The Cambridge matriarch first started wearing the navy single breasted jacket in the summer of 2011 and hasn’t stopped since. In fact, she’s donned the classic wool blazer a total of 12 times as a working royal. Kate first debuted the style boarding a plane to Canada a decade ago and later opted for the corporate classic at the London Olympics and Commonwealth Games. Most recently, she was spotted in the one button blazer with wide notched lapels and gold button closure in October 2020 to present the Pride of Britain Awards.

And while the busy royal’s tailored jacket in navy coordinates with striped long sleeve Breton shirts, blue printed blouses and white ribbed knit tops — Kate is also inclined to switch up her sporty style in favor of a more earthy topper. The duchess is also a fan of Smythe’s office-friendly Army Green blazer and made a diplomatic sartorial statement when she wore the Canadian brand to an archipelago in British Columbia in September 2016 on tour alongside husband Prince William.

She recycled the jacket in December 2018 for a visit to Cyprus to meet Royal Air Force personnel.
