The Duchess of Cambridge has solidified her status as a style icon and as she prepares to be Queen — Kate’s working wardrobe continues to evolve. As such, the comely Brit is often spotted in bright dress coats (RE: Queen Elizabeth’s colorful cache), court shoes and proper pant suits. Yet, the young and trendy royal is also inclined to wear one of the most flattering dress silhouettes — the wrap dress. From her standout sapphire Issa dress that she wore to wow the world at her engagement photo call to a recent floral wrap number from UK label Boden for the 2019 Cambridge family Christmas card–Kate has long been dedicated to the feminine and flattering classic.

Issa Dress

Kate wore this Issa ‘Engagement’ tie wrap dress to celebrate her betrothal to Prince William and show off her shiny new sapphire sparkler courtesy of her husband-to-be. The knee-length dress in royal blue silk jersey was an instant sell-out and sealed Kate’s status as a major fashion influencer.

Max Mara

With just a hint of a burgeoning baby bump, the duchess looked to have that special mom-to-be glow in a gray patterned Max Mara dress while visiting Hope House in London in February 2013. The maternity-friendly style offered up the comfort while still looking chic enough for a daytime engagement.

In one of the world’s fashion designers best known for the creation of the wrap dress — Kate opted for a Diane Von Furstenberg ‘Patrice’ printed blue and white dresses while touring Australia. The style appeared similar to a shirtdress but featured a cross-over wrap front and flared skirt.

For the Cambridge’s annual Christmas 2019 card, Kate wore an ‘Aurora’ midi dress from Boden. The pretty and playful wrap dress in Heron Blue Daisy Field features a v-neck, waist tie and tiered skirt.

 

Issa

Before saying ‘I do’ Kate wrapped up in this chic LBD for some last minute pre-wedding shopping in April 2011. Kate hit the city streets for some retail therapy in the ‘Auru’  LBD featuring a gathered detail at the waist along with a deep v-neckline.

 

Seraphine

For a maternity photo shoot with her dad Michael Middleton playing photographer — Kate looked relaxed and radiant in a pink fuchsia knot front ‘Jolene’ wrap-style dress from maternity brand Seraphine. Kate also owns the dress in a pale purple blossom print.

Kate first appeared in this dress while studying at University in 2002 and later opted for the style a few times before debuting the dress as a working royal in Borneo in 2012 and later for a hospital visit in 2014 (pictured). The pink paisley print dress features a surplice v-neck and with pink piping at the cuffs and a vertical front seam detail.
