The Duchess of Sussex is rumored to be making plans to run for President. While Prince Harry has long been friendly with President Joe Biden and First Lady Dr. Jill Biden — the duchess recently received praise from the Commander-in-Chief for her courageous comments on mental health. And while some speculate a White House run is definitely on the table — it hasn’t been confirmed whether or not the Duchess of Sussex truly has any political ambitions. Still, the California born royal seems to be taking a leaf from the lookbook of political power players. In fact, Meghan’s embellished belted Armani gown she wore for the now infamous Oprah interview was decidedly stylish and stately.

As the Duchess recently revealed her allegiance to lawyer and Supreme Court Judge Ruth Bader Ginsburg in a sartorial statement during a podcast — it seems the expectant mom is following up her fandom with a fashion statement mimicking the former associate justice. For the sit down with TV titan Oprah, Meghan was clad in a billowy black dress (not unlike a classic judicial gown) — the duchess appeared in a style much like a traditional courtroom look donned by the late American lawyer. Meghan was poised, calm and articulate as she discussed her royal role — the duchess wasn’t fidgety with no displays of nervous tension and only shed a few tears as she recounted her time in the “institution.” Meghan even seemed to clasp her hands similar to the famous jurist.

The Sussex matriarch already appears to transitioning her wardrobe from modest duchess to presidential hopeful. With her bold black Armani gown — the 39-year-old is moving away from her royal repertoire of reserved clothing in pale pinks, muted neutrals and timid tonal outfits. Now, Meghan is wearing bold black dresses, commanding corporate blouses and even satin jacket dresses that wouldn’t look out of place at a presidential podium or at a meeting in the oval office.
