While the Princess of Wales is never one to shy away from a nude or neutral pump, she’s recently been embracing a new and unexpected color heel. No, it’s not tan or taupe. Nor is it navy or black. In fact, the princess is having a love affair with bridal inspired footwear. Yes, it’s true — Kate is now wearing bright, bold and blindingly white heels on the regular.
Once reserved for christenings and her wedding day — the princess has embraced snowy shoes for regular royal outings. Why has Kate become addicted to ivory footwear?
For starters, icy pumps and platforms have been gaining momentum with the cool crowd and have been spotted on the likes of Jennifer Lopez, Rihanna and Lady Gaga; the celebrity beloved shoe trend has grown in popularity as more movie stars flirt with the modern and minimalist look of optic white shoes.
Princess Kate has fallen for the white pump craze and worn the style for royal tours, multiple Wimbledon outings and recent work engagements.
Part of the Barbiecore trend, white heels have a fun retro look that helps any outfit feel more fresh and feminine. Plus, they offer an elegant accent to pastel ensembles (Kate has worn them with mint and soft pink), work with powdery pantsuits (the princess has donned them with all-white McQueen) as well as frosty lace sheaths or cotton-colored trousers, not to mention, they pair perfectly with porcelain purses.
Providing a bolder and more noticeable pop of color than a taupe or tan, white heels impart a whimsical vibe and anchor an outfit with a snowy statement. The princess even wore bright white Gianvito Rossi white silk leather lined pumps to King Charles’ coronation.
The royal has a few favorite eggshell heels that she turns to again and again — her favorite pairs at the moment include Gianvito Rossi 105 leather pumps. Kate has worn the stark white pumps on and off throughout 2022 and 2023 for a total of five outings. She also wore them with a pink pantsuit at the Foundling Museum (see above).
Kate’s favorite pure white pair is her Jimmy Choo Romy kid leather pumps with an 85mm heel. The princess has worn these Italian made pointy toe pumps on nearly 10 occasions starting in the summer of 2021; at Wimbledon two years ago she paired the crisp colorless heels with an Alessandra Rich navy polka dot pleated skirt and later with an array of shirt dresses, suits and polka dot midis.
