The Princess of Wales debuted new knee-high leather boots for the Qatar state visit on December 3rd, 2024 in London. Opting for a pair of ‘Rhymes’ high boots from one of her favorite shoe designers Gianvito Rossi, the princess was elegant and fashion-forward as she greeted the Emir of Qatar and his wife at the palace.
The mom of three chose to coordinate her leather gloves, quilted Chanel bag and tall boots in the same colorway.
Kate’s new boots represent a major departure from her other suede styles — the princess already owns three pairs of Gianvito Rossi Block Heel Suede boots called the Glen (currently available at Nordstrom). She has a pair of the slouchy knee high boots in black, navy and brown.
Kate’s new leather boots are from Italian luxury shoe and accessory designer Gianvito Rossi. The Rhymes boots are rendered in the shade ‘Merlot Red’ and feature a block heel and thin sole for a sleek and sophisticated look. A strong angular pointed toe gives these boots a modern spin while visible stitching adds a bit of contemporary glamour.
The princess’ new boots are designed in calf leather which is lighter weight and more supple than other types of leather. A trendy concealed side zipper adds a practical accent while offering ease of on and off removal.
Made in Italy, the leather sole boots are on-trend with many celebrities like Taylor Swift, Olivia Rodrigo and Zendaya who have recently opted for similar luxe leather pairs from the likes of Christian Louboutin and Marcella.
The princess new merlot boots offer a bit of an increase in stature with 3.35 inches of heel height. Perfect for wearing with dresscoats, midi skirts or slip dresses, the boots can work to augment any trendy fall wardrobe. Kate will likely wear her new boots with sweater skirts, pleated flowy skirts and tailored topcoats.
The Rhymes boots were originally priced at $1695 and were available for purchase three years ago on the Gianvito Rossi website. Kate’s style is no longer available but similar pointed toe boots from the designer can be purchased at luxury discount retailer Cettire.
Luckily, there are also a few similar boot pairs in stock from Amazon that would have the princess’ stamp of style approval.
