When the Princess of Wales hosted her annual ‘Together at Christmas’ carol concert at Westminster Abbey on December 6th, many royal watchers were intrigued by her new baroque pearl earrings made by British luxury retailer Mulberry.
The brunette beauty was spotted in the new gold plated brass earrings combining an ornate Amberley lock closure with a white baroque pearl. Finished with a Rider’s Lock detail, the earrings offer a modern take on traditional gold drop earrings.
Combining a contemporary and classic interpretation of ladylike styling, the earrings represent the equestrian aesthetic of fashion company Mulberry.
This isn’t the first time the princess has been drawn to pieces from the woman’s handbag label which was founded in 1971 in Somerset, England.
Kate has long been a dedicated follower of the wares from high-end leather goods and accessory maker Mulberry.
As far back as 2006 the princess had a fondness for Mulberry attire and specfically handbags. It’s believed the princess owns at least 15 satchels, clutches and top handle bags from the high-fashion retailer.
She regularly carried a fuchsia leather ‘Araline’ Y2K pink bag with braided straps and a tassel adornment. She toted the stylish bag to a charity roller skating disco in a sequin green halter top by Select Fashion in September 2008 and was seen out with the bag at social events.
She also loved her Mulberry Hellier Tote in duck egg blue during her pre-marriage days living and working in London.
A few years later in 2011 and 2012 the princess acquired more than one Mulberry purse.
The future Queen was first spotted carrying a Mulberry Locked cosmetic clutch in black in February 2011. The slim natural leather bag was accented with the brand’s postman fastening. She would later go on to purchase a similarly designed black suede Bayswater clutch which she would carry on royal duty on over 50 royal engagements.
The princess also was so fond of spacier Mulberry styles — she purchased the Mulberry cookie Bayswater bag in 2012. A cream colored satchel with scalloped detailing, the pebbled leather tote was seen on the princess during a private shopping expedition in Chelsea, London on June 2nd, 2012.
Yet again, the princess showed her allegiance to the label and Modern Heritage brand often synonymous with its tree logo. She purchased a midnight hued leather briefcase bag in 2011 called the Polly Push Lock Satchel. The Shaping Us campaigner carried the pebbled leather tote on her shopping errands, dry cleaning runs, and to hair styling appointments. She was spotted with the vintage-inspired bag on five occasions in 2011; the last sighting of the dark navy bag was in 2017 when Kate was photographed with the bag near King’s Cross Station.
The princess owns three Bayswater suede clutches in red, praline and black, an Amberley satchel in green along with a dark blush Amberley clutch; plus three top handle crossbody bags in white, black and light blue. She also owns a red croc hibiscus Darley patent clutch and mini Seaton leather bag in black.
Not only is the princess a fan of Mulberry jewelry and handbags, she has also worn dresses by the brand. She’s worn a total of two Mulberry dresses during her royal career thus far.
In her early days as a Senior Royal, Kate wore a few Mulberry garments not long after her marriage in 2011. She stepped out in the Mulberry Midnight blue eyelet dress in September 2012 on a visit to the Solomon Islands.
The knee length dress boasts a defined waistline, pointed collar and full pleated skirt. Crafted from a breathable broderie anglaise, the dress is lightweight and summer-friendly.
Also, shortly after her wedding, the newlywed donned a green Mulberry Peace and Love Jacquard Dress.
The silk shirtdress features a peter pan collar, front pleat detailing and long sleeves gathered at the cuffs. A knee-length dress in the shade ‘cabbage’ it boasts a printed silk jacquard-weaved Peace and Love motif.
For accessories, the princess has worn just two items by Mulberry–a belt and her new pearl earrings.
In 2016 in Canada, the royal beauty was spotted wearing a new Mulberry braided belt in tan. She wore the $255 braided belt with a gold-tone buckle paired with Zara skinny trousers in a dark green khaki.
The natural braided brown heritage belt was made of smooth calf leather with a brass hardware finish.
The Princess of Wales also owns four colorful pastel and pink coats from the design house.
She has a frayed coat in mint green, a bright pink cerise double-breasted coat, a Paddington midi coat in powder blue and an ‘Asleigh’ trench coat with removable cape in blue.
Finally, Princess Kate also counts a Mulberry skirt in her impressive and ever-expanding royal closet of designer fashions. The princess owns the Mulberry Polly Push Lock Herringbone Wool Skirt — she wore the garment while shopping at Peter Jones Department Store in April 2012.
