To mark the occasion of her 43rd birthday today, Kensington Palace released a new photo of the Princess of Wales.
Clad in high waisted and lightly whiskered jeans, a white collared shirt with a dark blazer (with folded sleeves) as well as a checked scarf, the princess showed off her approachable casual style sensibility.
The black and white photo captured by Matt Porteous in Windsor last summer before the princess announced the end of her chemotherapy treatment appears to herald a fresh start and new beginning for the mom of three.
Released alongside the new birthday photo was a dedication from Prince William applauding his wife for her courage, bravery, strength and fortitude over the previous year. The tribute reads, “To the most incredible wife and mother. The strength you’ve shown over the last year has been remarkable. George, Charlotte, Louis and I are so proud of you. Happy Birthday, Catherine. We love you. W”
Having last January undergone an abdominal operation, this year marks the start of a new healing chapter and major milestone for the princess. It’s been one year since her procedure and the discovery that “cancer was present” during her life-altering surgery.
It’s possible the new birthday photograph was shot at the same time as her June 14th, 2024 nature image which was released to the public as a personal thank you. The summer message included a photo of Kate standing symbolically next to a tree in the forest with her remarking in an accompanying statement that she was “not out of the woods” in terms of her treatment or recovery.
In both images, Kate appears to be wearing the same high-rise jeans with a similar hairstyle — tousled bouncy waves.
The Telegraph released a new story in honor of Kate’s birthday with details regarding her program of royal engagements for 2025. The article says that the Princess is expected to aim to attend a few “key public moments” like she did last year with attendance anticipated at a few “ordinary engagements.” The outlet reports that there is no expectation that she will “return a full schedule of public engagements, even this year.”
