The Princess of Wales today made an emotional visit to Royal Marsden Hospital where she received her own treatment for cancer last year.

Having made many private visits to the facility, she was appreciative of the fact that she could use the main entrance of the hospital. The princess remarked on arrival to the medical center, “I was just saying, coming in the front entrance here, having made so many quiet, private visits, actually it’s quite nice.”

Speaking with patients she detailed her struggles with chemotherapy and described the toll of the treatment and recounted the challenging side effects. She said, “You think the treatment has finished and you can crack on and get back to normal, but that’s still a real challenge. The words totally disappear.”

Following the visit, Kate made a major announcement on social media where she described her cancer as now in “remission” and said she is looking forward to a “fulfilling year ahead.” The public message coincides with an important development for the royal and her husband — Princess Kate and Prince William were named as co-patrons of The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust earlier today.

For the princess’ first solo visit of 2025, she opted to wear a few new bespoke fashion pieces.

The mom of three donned a custom long checked maxi coat from luxury Italian womenswear Blaze Milano. A longer version of the Lahloo Anyway blazer in brown, the topper combines the timeless appeal of tartan with modern detailing including double breasted leather loden buttons, smiley outer pockets, peaked lapels and structured shoulders. Made in Italy of 100% virgin wool, the coat elevates an ordinary business outfit into a sophisticated statement look.

Underneath the checked long coat, Kate opted for her Kitlane Cashmere Polo Knit Jumper in a berry shade ‘bordeaux.’ The slim fit turtleneck is made of 100% cashmere and features delicate ribbing at the neck and cuffs. The princess wore the sweater once in November 2022 for a rugby match and again in February 2023 for a visit to Falmouth.

For a skirt, Kate repeated her Edeline Lee ‘Plait’ skirt in burgundy. The asymmetrical midi skirt boasts a deep pleat crafted in a smooth-textured Georgette Champion. Constructed in England and woven in Italy, the skirt is designed in a mid-weight fabric with a smooth drape. The princess previously donned the skirt in February 2023 for an outing to the National Maritime Museum Cornwall.

For footwear, the princess opted for a reliable favorite: her Russell & Bromley pinpoint pumps in brown suede. The throwback heels were first spotted on Her Royal Highness nearly a decade ago for a visit to Anglesey back in February 2016.

For accessories, the princess once again wore her sapphire eternity band stack in lieu of her sapphire engagement ring.

She wore her Étincelle de Cartier wedding band in platinum with 14 brilliant-cut diamonds (0.45 carats) and 14 brilliant-cut sapphires totaling (0.63 carats).

In addition, she donned new mixed metal hoops believed to be the Cartier Trinity White Gold Earrings. The dainty hoops feature three interlaced bands in pink, yellow and white gold which symbolize love, fidelity and friendship. The delicate hoops inspired the brand’s Trinity collection — known as “a timeless testament to life’s most memorable loves.”

For a handbag, we received confirmation that the princess opted for the Morgan 18 in cranberry from Asprey London. The chic handbag boasts polished palladium finish hardware and is lined in sumptuous kid suede, with a slip pocket inside.

Currently the brand’s Morgan 18 bag is available in silver, ecru, ginger, lapis and white. The elegant bag has a clean and minimal silhouette, an exclusive Asprey clasp on the front flapover and a chain link shoulder strap with a leather pad for comfortable wear.
