Princess Kate dazzled in an ivory gown for the South Korea State Banquet held at Buckingham Palace on November 21, 2023. The guests of honor included South Korea’s President Yoon Suk Yeol and his wife Kim Keon Hee who are making a three-day visit to the UK.
Kate looked sensational in the Queen Mother’s Strathmore Rose Tiara — this is only the fourth tiara the princess has ever worn in her royal role. The floral diadem has not been worn for nearly a century and was last seen in the 1930s.
The headpiece was made in the late 1800s and purchased by the 14th Earl of Strathmore — the sparkling flower crown can be worn on the head or as a band across the forehead. In addition, the roses of the tiara can be worn as ornamental pieces and used as detachable brooches.
Besides wearing a striking new crown, Kate opted for an ivory Packham gown — royal watchers felt the dress was similar to Kate’s coronation McQueen design as both share similar features including intricate metallic embroidery.
Kate’s caplet gown also bears a resemblance to the Packham cape dress she wore for the 2022 state banquet. The floor length ‘Elspeth’ gown shares many of the same details including heavy beading on the shoulders.
The dress is believed to be a bespoke version of the Jenny Packham Anemone dress. Kate’s custom creation has many of the same design elements including shoulder pads, cape sleeves, jeweled detailing and and a flared floor length skirt — the glamorous gown is perfect for splashy and special affairs.
A similar beaded jewel cape dress is available from Dillards.
For the palace party, the princess also wore Queen Elizabeth’s Diamond frame earrings and the Family Order of Elizabeth II.
Kate finished the look with her Anya Hindmarch Maud pearl embellished satin clutch. The occasion bag has a detachable strap and pearl clasp closure. The princess previously carried the bag in Jamaica in March 2022.
The Maud clutch is made of recycled satin and can be worn across the body or on the shoulder.
Lastly, the royal beauty wore new white satin opera gloves to finish her glamorous nighttime ensemble.
