The Princess of Wales loves a familiar and fail-safe fashion statement. Not inclined to try new designer dresses for every occasion, she often purchases her wardrobe winners in different hues. Understanding her royal job requires consistency, continuity and chic style statements at every occasion — she’s become a color chameleon and regal repeater.

The princess owns some of her beloved looks in two, three and four different shades. She has a dress code and she doesn’t deviate from it. The name of the royal game is princess perfection and Kate’s duplicated dresses ensure a flawless fit every time.

Here are 10 Dresses Kate Middleton Owns in Multiple Colors:

1. Emilia Wickstead Kate Square Neck Dress

A vintage dress with ladylike appeal, this Wickstead number is owned by the princess in four colorways including: lilac, teal, green and blue. A cinched waistband, square neckline and A-line cut give this dress serious sophistication.

2. Alexander McQueen Paperbag Pleated Dress

Hailing from the British fashion label’s Autumn/Winter 2016 collection, this flirty skater dress is designed from a silk-wool blend. Kate loved the style so much she wore the look in cotton candy pink for Trooping the Colour in June 2017 and in a raspberry shade for Princess Eugenie’s wedding in the fall of 2018.

3. Preen Finella Satin Midi Dress

Crafted from a heavyweight satin fabric, Kate donned the red version of this elegant fit-and-flare midi for a royal tour reception in Canada in September 2016. 4. Eponine London Midi Coat Dress

Constructed of wool, this midi coatdress hails from the designer’s Spring/Summer 2020 collection. The elegant long coat features vintage black buttons, ruched shoulder seams, three-quarter sleeves and a wrap bodice. Kate wore the statement topper in blue in November 2021 and in burgundy for a visit to St. Davids Cathedral in 2023.

5. Michael Kors Belted Midi Shirtdress

The Princess of Wales stunned in this floral georgette shirtdress by American fashion designer Michael Kors in September 2019 for Princess Charlotte’s first day of school. However, the British beauty had already worn the style for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s wedding rehearsal the previous May. Later, Kate wore the same shirtdress featuring a mod foulard print for a hospital visit in December 2019.

6. LK Bennett Madison Dress

A multi-colored chiffon summer dress made of soft silk, this breezy midi has been sported by the princess for many on and off duty occasions. Kate first debuted the purple dress for a dinner date with Prince William in August 2015. She later picked up the pink version and wore it for personal outings and royal business. Most recently, the future Queen wore the purple multi midi with a custom Chris Kerr pastel blue maxi coat in June 2022 for a visit to Cambridgeshire.

7. Emilia Wickstead Pleated Alice Dress

Kate wore this tea length dress in white for Wimbledon in July 2019; she was so fond of the button front shirtdress she rewore it three more times. The retro dress is designed of Italian crepe and later appeared on the princess in emerald green in May 2023 at the Anna Freud charity headquarters.

9. Dolce and Gabbana Floral Lace Dress

These D&G dresses were perfect for formal events in Kate’s diary. The princess wore the black sheer floral lace sheath dress for the Festival of Remembrance in November 2015; she had sported the purple version just a month prior in October to meet with the President of China at Lancaster House.

10. Jenny Packham Sequin Tenille/Georgia Gown
