During their visit, King Charles along with his wife Queen Camilla and their children and grandchildren will enjoy some scenic downtime. The Wales will play with their cousins while indulging in endless recreation activities on the 50,000 acre royal compound. The Highland home of the Royal Family boasts an array of on-site cottages (unavailable during the royal visit) and guided tours.

The quaint royal residence and summer retreat also offers plenty of sports for William and Kate and their three children to enjoy including fly fishing, golf, pyramid sightseeing and other outdoor adventures. The Tindalls, Brooksbank and Mapelli Mozzi families may meetup  for afternoon tea, nature walks or hide and go seek games within the confines of the castle.

Princess Kate’s trip to Balmoral marks a significant milestone in her cancer recovery — leaving behind her Adelaide Cottage home in Windsor to make the nearly nine hour journey to Scotland is a positive sign her recovery is going well.

Previously, there have been only fleeting glimpses of the family going to and from religious services at Crathie Kirk church in the charming Scottish village of Crathie on the north bank of the River Dee.

In September 2013, the princess rode with Prince William outfitted in her Workers tartan coat by Moloh and the ‘fairy tale’ flower adorned black fascinator from Lock and Company.

Two years later, in September 2015, the princess was spotted with a new hairstyle (fresh fringe) in her Hobbs Celeste chestnut brown coat on the way to church.

The following year in September 2016, Kate styled her hair in a more formal updo and donned her tweed Michael Kors blazer and matching midi skirt for a September trip from King Charles’ Birkhall residence to Crathie Kirk.

On August 20th, 2017, the family descended on the Scottish highlands per tradition and Kate wore her Hobbs Celeste brown belted coat with her L.K. Bennett Addison dress. She added her navy Lock and Company ‘Breakfast at Tiffany’s’ wide brim hat with a wraparound ribbon. For a hairstyle, she kept her shoulder length locks in loose waves.

The next year in late August 2018, the princess again opted for more regal attire and her hair styled in a meticulous updo underneath a formal black fascinator. She rode with the late Queen Elizabeth in her Bentley automobile in the backseat. For the trip to church, she opted for a grey tweed bespoke coatdress by Catherine Walker. To pay tribute to her riding companion, Kate donned the monarch’s Bahrain pearl and diamond earrings.

On the 25th of August in 2019, Kate leaned into military styling with a Guinea London navy herringbone wool trench coat (a favorite desginer of Zara Tindall). Underneath the maxi longline coat, she wore her Michael Kors peacock print shirtdress. For accessories, she opted for a Lock & Co hat and her Asprey London oak leaf hoop earrings.

There were no photographs of the royal family making the church excursion during the Covid pandemic in 2020 and 2021.

In September 2022 the Queen passed away — the following year Kate and her family traveled to Scotland in late August; for the traditional Sunday services the princess wore a Holland Cooper tawny colored trench with her Hicks & Brown fedora.

This year royal watchers are hoping to see a picture of the princess and her family on the car ride to or from church services at Crathie Kirk. For the outing, Kate will likely wear a tailored coat, fascinator (or fedora) and classic earrings.
