The Duchess of Sussex made a sartorial shoutout to her late mother-in-law Princess Diana and donned a purple sweatshirt from her alma mater Northwestern University for her latest series of Instagram stories.
Captured outdoors in her home garden in Montecito, the duchess’ latest social media content reveals clips of her home garden (with Prince Archie helping water the plants) and an elevated outdoor tablescape with plenty of citrus.
Meghan attended the private school in Evanston, Illinois in the early 2000s and graduated in 2003 with a double major in theater and international studies.
Princess Diana famously wore the athleisure look when she paired the collegiate purple pullover with white biker shorts in a now iconic photograph taken in the mid-90s.

The late princess was photographed visiting the Chelsea Harbour Club in late August 1996. In addition to the sweatshirt, Diana shunned a gym bag and carried her Gucci bamboo brown suede handle bag. She accessorized with Christian Dior sunglasses and wore white Reebok socks and sneakers.

For Meghan’s latest story, she donned a Pressbox Northwestern Wildcats Comfy Cord Vintage Wash Arch Pullover in Purple. The lightweight sweatshirt is officially licensed with white lettering and a screenprint graphic. In addition, the 100% cotton pullover boasts an allover corded distressed fabric for a vintage inspired look.
She paired the sweatshirt with her Krewe Gravier Sunglasses in black and gold.
And finished the casual look with J.Crew Pacific Studded Suede Mules in the shade candlelight. A past season style, the light almond/biscotti shaded shoes feature a closed toe and slip-on closure, making them perfect for any relaxed occasion. The flat heel and rubber outsole provides comfort and durability. Designed with a bohemian flair, the studded shoes are perfect for gardening or al fresco dining.
