The Duke and Duchess of Sussex paid tribute to Nelson Mandela today at an exhibition dedicated to his life. The royal pair viewed artwork in the exhibit and admired many of the artifacts preserved from Mandela’s lifetime including a Robben Island Bible, which was actually a copy of Shakespeare plays disguised as the religious tome. In addition, they viewed a pickaxe similar to the one Nelson Mandela would have been forced to use during manual labor at Robben Island.
The Duke and Duchess also met with anti-apartheid politicians, chatted with Nelson Mandela’s granddaughter and listened to a performance by the Ubunye Choir. The pair also greeted photographers and the public outside the centre. The Appearing Rooms fountain outside the centre was closed to the public during the royal visit.
The duchess opted for a sleek modern trench dress from Canadian label House of Nonie. The breezy pale pink $825 NONIE dress is from the brand’s Spring/Summer 2018 collection and was actually purchased in the fall of 2017 when the duchess was still residing in Toronto. The pale pink blush shade is the main color in Meghan’s fashion rolodex these days. Many suggested Meghan intentionally selects pale hues so as not to compete with the event or draw extra attention, others believe Meghan loves dusky pink for its calm and soothing properties. Whatever the case, Meghan continues to set her own style stamp on the monarchy with buttons aplenty, stripes and oversized collars along with her bateau necklines.
This is not the first time Duchess Meghan has worn the trench style jacket. She also opted for a similar look for the Royal Foundation Forum with her Jason Wu navy sleeveless trench and in Atluzarra for a Commonwealth Reception.
The duchess carried the Mulberry Clifton Bag in Rosewater Classic Grain. The bag is reduced from $891 to $802.60 and available at Italist. The bag is made from supple leather and comes with a major flap detail with snap button fastening to secure the inside trifolded body. The soft-to-the-touch handbag is ultra organized and features three main pockets with slots galore. In addition, it features a gold tone chain strap for use as a crossbody bag.
In addition, the Duchess of Sussex wore the Dioressence 100 Pump (ID Credit HeavenQRF). The shoes are currently sold out. Shop similar HERE and HERE
Meghan also wore the Birks Bee Chic White Quartz Silver Earrings (ID Meghan’s Mirror).
