When she recently stepped out in Wales in early October 2023, Princess Kate showed she was keeping up with the cool crowds by borrowing Taylor Swift’s famous heart hands. At a high school in Cardiff in a Holland and Cooper pinstripe pantsuit, the princess proved she’s a devoted Swiftie when she flashed the famous hand signal to a group of student admirers.
The royals must be T-Swift fans as Prince William famously performed a duet with the pop phenom alongside Bon Jovi for a charity fundraiser in November 2013. He later explained that the songstress was able to cajole him into singing on stage with the New Jersey rocker. At the Winter White Gala at Kensington Palace, Swift was just 23-years-old when she rubbed shoulders with the future King.
Still, the princess’ recent gesture proves the royals are Taylor enthusiasts and Kate’s fashion has even been synced with the superstar. Perhaps they will leave a Blank Space for the singer at their next royal dinner party?
Here are a Few Times Kate Middleton was Twinning with Taylor Swift:
- Sparkle Queens
In March 2017, Princess Kate attended a glamorous black-tie gala at the British Ambassador’s Residence in Paris outfitted in a sheer icy blue Jenny Packham gown. The evening gown was embellished with crystals and detailed with sequins arranged in a floral motif. The iconic musician donned the same beaded ballgown a few years earlier in a champagne color. Wonder if the pop princess will rewear the gown to a fancy soirée with boyfriend Travis Kelce?
2. Beauties in Blue
While not wearing identical designer dresses, Kate and Tay had another twinning moment in elegant blue designs. Taylor Swift’s ‘Blank Space’ music video featured the singer wearing a gown with rows of crystal clusters and beading while seated at a formal dining room table. Later, the dress was identified as hailing from Jenny Packham’s Spring 2014 collection. The look echoed Kate’s custom powder blue Elie Saab dress worn for Royal Ascot 2019; the ensemble featured a bow neck tie and embroidered tulle skirt. The two-piece blouse and skirt was a part of the Lebanese designer’s resort 2019 collection. But…who wore it first? Taylor wore the look first as her music video premiered in November 2014, while the princess stepped out on the racecourse in June 2019.
3. Ravishing in Reiss
For the Epsom Derby in 2011, Princess Kate donned a snowy white ‘Peacock’ dress by Reiss. An elegant but understated daytime dress, Kate’s icy style featured a mesh and corded embroidered bodice, wide neckline and lined full flouncy skirt. The princess paired the skater dress with a white jacket by Joseph. Swifties rejoice as Kate’s look perfectly matched a dress seen on the ‘Anti-Hero’ singer. The blonde musician and songwriter wore the red version of the dress on MTV News in May 2014.
4. Packham Purses
Wearing an ethereal gown by Reem Acra for a Kensington Palace gala benefiting youth homelessness charity Centrepoint in November 2013, Kate’s style twin accessorized her dazzling evening look with a Jenny Packham ‘Casa’ box clutch. The glistening silver handbag boasts a trapezoid shape, silver metal frame and crystal encrusted clasp closure. Kate carried the clutch for the first time in October 2015 for a movie premiere — two years after the Miss Americana sensation wore the sparkly bag.
Besides Jenny Packham and Reiss, Princess Kate and Taylor also share a love of a few brands. The singer has been spotted with Tod’s bags, an Aspinal London mini trunk clutch and a red Dolce & Gabbana Sicily bag (just like the royal). Both ladies also have an affection for & Other Stories, Stella McCartney and Stuart Weiztman shoes. Plus, as both pop royalty and “regular” royalty, the two women love Ralph Lauren cashmere roll neck and cable crewneck sweaters, Le Chameau Wellies, Self-Portrait dresses and Burberry trench coats. In addition, they’re equally enamored with Ray-Ban sunglasses and Miu Miu holiday themed red pullover sweaters.
