When she’s looking to give her style a dose of quiet luxury, the Princess of Wales often turns to Chanel. Specializing in women’s ready-to-wear clothing, luxury goods and accessories, the Parisian haute couture fashion house is celebrated for its fragrances, fine jewelry and fashions. The princess has recently embraced the luxe label for its statement handbags which define its ladylike and refined aesthetic.

Princess Kate is especially drawn to the brand’s iconic quilted wallets and handbags which feature Chanel’s instantly recognizable interlocking and opposing capital C letters. Representing its eternally chic and classic allure, the bold mirroring interlaced ‘C’s — show off Chanel’s fanciful and feminine heritage as its logotype exudes elegance, sophistication, geometric glamour and modernity. Thus, it’s easy to see why the princess is drawn to this high-end label and its captivating Parisian charm.

Here are Kate Middleton’s Favorite Clothing and Accessories from Chanel:

Bonjour Blue

Chanel 1995 Trimmed Double Breasted Jacket in Cobalt Blue

A jewel toned jacket circa 1995, Kate’s vintage wool-blend bouclé topper has been worn by the princess on only two occasions. Kate paired the bold blue coat with her Roland Mouret ‘Axon’ wide leg black pants for an outing in October 2002 at a Coach Core event. A month later, she did a bit of diplomatic dressing in blue Bostonian colors while visiting Massachusetts for a Celtics basketball game. Famous supermodel Claudia Schiffer was also seen in the tweed topper on the runway in the early 1990s. The ‘Chanel Boutique’ blue tweed jacket originally retailed for $4698.

The late Princess Diana was also a big fan of Chanel and wore skirt suits, button front dresses, long coats and carried quilted black bags from the label.

Chanel Burgundy Calfskin Bag with Enamel Handle

This quilted burgundy bag has been a royal recycle for the princess on multiple occasions. She carried the decorative enamel handle bag in March 2017 in Paris and a year later she carried the petite bag from the brand’s Fall/Winter 2015 collection for Sunday Service at Sandringham in 2018. She also paired the bag with culottes and a Warehouse berry colored pointelle sweater in October 2019 for a museum stop and accessorized a burgundy pantsuit with the statement bag on a trip to Boston in December 2022. The princess likes to tote the Chanel Art Nouvelle Small Flap bag for fall outings and royal tours. While not available in stores, there are consignment shops and thrift boutiques selling maroon colored Chanel bags, though Kate’s patterned ornamental handle purse is still a rare find. Kate’s bag originally retailed for $6,225.
