In September 2016 Princess Kate joined Prince William for a fishing boat trip on September 30, 2016 in Haida Gwaii (formerly known as Queen Charlotte Islands) in an archipelago off British Columbia’s western coast. The princess surprised royal watchers by donning a new khaki green parka jacket for the seaside visit.
Bypassing Barbour for the brand Troy London, Kate’s lightweight 100% cotton coat was a winning style choice for the cool Canadian climate.
The mom of three loved the casual and fully waterproof utility coat so much that she would go on to wear the style on three more occasions including another outing in Canada the following day on October 1st, 2016, for a sailing themed engagement on the Pacific Grace boat in Victoria Harbour.
Later, the British royal would wear the topper for a visit to Farms for City Children on May 3, 2017 in Gloucestershire, England. Kate paired the sporty coat with a J.Crew cashmere long sleeve navy sweater in the shade heather midnight with a Gap gingham button down shirt. She finished the countryside chic ensemble with Zara mid-rise skinny biker pants and her Penelope Chilvers tassel boots.
The coat was hidden away in Kate’s closet for six years before its most recent appearance at the Câr-Y-Môr Seaweed Farm in southwest Wales on September 8, 2023. Kate donned the stylish taupe colored coat with G-Star Cargo skinny pants in the shade raven as well as her beloved Veja Esplar low-top metallic rose gold ‘V’ sneakers.
The princess’ Troy London jacket is constructed of 100% cotton milled in England with a dry wax finish. Designed to withstand wet weather, the fully waterproof jacket has a cinched waist to create an hourglass and defined figure rather than a bulky frame. In addition, the raincoat boasts oversized pockets, a breathable black sports-luxe lining and a drawstring toggle hood. The coat also features vibrant orange detailing, gold cord ends and a gold engraved bar. Shop the Troy London Pop Wax Parka in Khaki Green HERE
Kate loved the versatile lightweight coat so much she bought the exact version in navy. The princess has only stepped out in the dark blue version of the practical parka on one occasion in North Wales in May 2019 for litter cleanup at Newborough Beach.
The blue version of the jacket is also still available. Shop the Troy London Pop Wax Parka in Navy HERE
