When the Princess of Wales steps out for royal duty she always looks impeccably groomed and glossed. From her shiny bouncy blowout to perfectly manicured nails and flawless skin, the royal knows how to put her best foot forward. So, it’s not surprising that beyond looking good, she likes to smell good.
With so many walkabouts on her royal calendar, Kate must maintain her beauty regimen and stick to her tried and true fragrance favorites.
Here is Kate Middleton’s Signature Scent and Favorite Perfumes:
Ceremony Cologne
Jo Malone Orange Blossom Cologne Spray
The princess reportedly commissioned Jo Malone Orange Blossom candles for her wedding day at Westminster Abbey. Sources informed the media that the royal bride scented the air of the church with this fragrance with notes of clementine leaves and water lily. The sumptuous garden heavy scent from Jo Malone London left wedding guests with the scent of lush woodlands and lilac blossoms. The uplifting aroma filled the air as the princess strode down the aisle of the church to exchange vows with her royal suitor.
Not only was the venue stocked with the smell given off by burning the luxury candles under maple trees brought to the Abbey for the special occasion, but bathrooms were outfitted with the springtime scent in the form of toiletries like hand washes and lotions.
The original warm and woodsy scent was inspired by a stay at the hotel Bel-Air and now is one of the luxury perfumers best selling candles. Designed from high-grade wax and mixed with notes of clementine flower, white lilac, and orris wood, the Orange Blossom candles can burn for up to 45 hours. The Orange Blossom cologne is reportedly Kate’s signature scent.
Wedding Day Spray
For her wedding day, despite the church being infused with Kate’s preferred floral and orange scent, the bride herself opted for White Gardenia Petals from British fine fragrance house Illuminum London. Clarence House confirmed the freshly minted duchess (pre-princess) wore the springtime scent with notes of gardenia, ylang ylang, lily of the valley, and jasmine. While Kate smelled like a garden oasis, her guests gave off an air of citrus spiked orchards. The royal wedding was truly scent-sational.
Garden Scented Galas
In November 2017, Kate attended an event in a black lace DVF dress for the Anna Freud National Centre for Children and Families at the Orangery Restaurant on the grounds of Kensington Palace. At the glamorous gala, each table was outfitted with dinner party dishware as well as Jo Malone Lime, Basil and Mandarin scented candles. As the brand supports the work of Anna Freud, it was fitting to have the candles as a centerpiece for the charity party.
Crafted in the British countryside in the brand’s signature glass jar design, the long lasting candle has the scent of fresh cut limes mixed with alluring fragrance of juicy mandarins. The cozy candle also has notes of basil and white thyme with an air of fresh tangy limes wafting from a tropical breeze.
But what does the princess smell like in person? Royal fashion bloggers have revealed the princess smells “amazing, like raspberry and fruit—very clean, crisp smells.”
