The Princess of Wales can ski, play piano and speak sign language but she has another talent — fashion designer. For a recent trip to Stirling, Scotland alongside Prince William she greeted crowds of well-wishers and tried her hand at curling in a brand new ensemble with a key piece she designed herself.

The princess was outfitted in a blue tartan Chris Kerr Bespoke Johnstons of Elgin Fabric Longline Coat that she helped co-design.

The blue double-breasted coat which paid a nod to the Scottish flag hails from a collaboration with Johnstons of Elgin and tailor Chris Kerr. It features a gathered waist, slant pockets and fabric covered black buttons.

Princess Kate and the London tailor helped design the exact tartan pattern and teal-blue wool fabric used for the stylish topcoat.

In addition to her new classic tartan topper, the princess wore a Johnstons of Elgin x Le Kilt Long Kilt Skirt in Navy.

She paired the dark midi skirt with her Zara navy buttoned cuff turtleneck.

And finished the look with her Gianvtio Rossi black suede knee high boots.

Later, to try curling she revealed a new knit vest — a layering piece from sustainable fashion brand Bamford; the princess donned a fair isle sweater vest from the brand’s Autumn/Winter 2018 collection. The printed and preppy vest (similar) was constructed in Scotland and features a pattern of repeating cream colored hearts.

To participate at the National Curling Academy, the princess changed into Tod’s Black  Suede Chelsea booties. The ankle boots are made in Italy and boast a rubber outsole with embossed pebble detailing for better traction, elastic gore inserts as well as the iconic Tod’s logo tag.
