She is no different than a modern, royal Carrie Bradshaw. Meghan Markle by all accounts is a fiercely feminine, shoe-lover with a closet brimming full of heels that would make most girls swoon and shed a tear with envy. A trendsetter and a trailblazer, she loves a variety of luxury shoe brands including: Burberry, Sam Edelman, Gianvito Rossi, Aquazuura and Stuart Weitzman. Meghan’s pre-royal shoe closet was nothing to balk at–as she reportedly had a footwear closet worth almost $30,000. So, what pair will this ardent shoe lover and fervent fashionista wear with her white wedding dress?
As a soon-to-be royal wife her most beloved brands are Manolo Blahniks and Jimmy Choos. Favoring these two shoe powerhouses, she often looks regal and refined in the brand’s classic pumps (frequently suede or luxe velvet). While she has only worn Jimmy Choo once in Belfast, she previously wore many stylish pointed pumps by the iconic brand for media appearances and on her now defunct Instagram page. She also worn Sarah Flint heels and Aquazurra more than once since becoming the wife-in-waiting of Prince Harry.
While the Duchess of Cambridge had custom made Alexander McQueen lace and satin embroidered court pumps created by Sarah Burton to match her stunning wedding dress made for her April 2011 nuptials–if Markle selects her go-to Manolos Blahnik heels, there will be no matching her wedding gown as the shoe designer does not create dress apparel.
What’s a modern duchess to do?
In all likelihood, Markle’s wedding dress will cover he feet, thus, her shoes won’t be visible for her big debut at Windsor Castle. Experts predict her walk-down-the-aisle shoes will be closed-toe and likely simple, white and comfortable. Nothing fussy, nothing fancy.
The evening reception at Frogmore House however is a different matter. When Meghan glides into the English country house in the evening in her second royal wedding dress which will likely be a tad more casual but still very elegant and sophisticated not to mention white or ivory, she will then debut shoes for show.
Since Meghan is a fan of Aquazzura and other shoes with distinctive details and a bit of personality, she may go full bridal and select shoes with luxe and lavish embellishments like crystals, ostrich feathers or bows. It’s our prediction that she will most likely select a lace or satin pointed pump to dazzle in her reception dress.
