The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge looked to be full of holiday cheer as they hosted military families at Kensington Palace on a brisk December morning in London. The twosome were welcomed to the party with a big gust from a snow machine and they even engaged in a some playful snowball throwing.
Prince William was seen assisting with crafts while Kate took to the microphone and made a speech declaring, “We should never forget our military families and the service you do for us all.” In addition, Kate cracked a bit of an early yuletide joke saying, “If it’s not too early…Merry Christmas to you all!”
The playful pair showed no hint of strain or tension despite a dramatic week in the media with many reports surfacing suggesting tensions in the royal household.
The Duchess of Cambridge greeted many of the deployed military personnel family members and even interacted with children who were enjoying treats at the party.
For this happy event, Kate opted for a red tartan midi skirt from Emilia Wickstead’s Autumn/Winter 2018 Collection. The tartan checkered Pris pleated skirt is made from sturdy flannel and has sharp pleats throughout. The $1295 skirt is currently sold out. Shop a similar holiday style here.
As we noted on our Instagram page, the skirt is quite similar to tartan and plaid styles favored by the Queen.
Kate finished her seasonal style with a cashmere cardigan from the brand Broa. The cropped black cardigan is available in french navy, white, swan and black. Find a similar style HERE
For accessories, Kate wore her Mappin and Webb Empress Drop earrings ($1900).
Kate also wore her Cartier watch.
