A fairytale proposal resulted in a fairtytale marriage. Prince Harry dropped on bended knee to ask Meghan Markle to be his wife in 2017 with a dazzling three-stone ring featuring two diamonds from Princess Diana’s jewelry collection as well as one diamond from Botswana set on a thin yellow gold band.
Engagement Ring
The three-carat cushion cut diamond engagement ring was made by royal jeweler Cleave and Company. Each of the diamonds surrounding the center stone are estimated to be a little less than a carat each while the large center stone is estimated at three carats — in total the ring is estimated at around 3.8 carats. Meghan’s classic three-stone style is often referred to as a trilogy or trinity ring — with each stone symbolizing a time in the relationship (past, present or future). The estimated value of Meghan’s engagement ring is put at around $350,000.
Wedding Ring
On May 19, 2018, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle said ‘I do’ at St. George’s Chapel at Windsor castle. On their wedding day, the prince gifted his bride with a pure Welsh gold wedding band from Cleave and Company. Kensington Palace confirmed the special Welsh band was a gift to Meghan from the Queen.
Eternity Ring
In celebration of their one-year anniversary, the duchess received an altered eternity band as a gift from her beloved husband. The ring’s original thin gold band was modified and replaced with a delicate pavé diamond band. Harry commissioned the update from Lorraine Schwartz who redesigned and reset the ring. The new conflict-free eternity band now reportedly has Harry, Meghan and Archie’s birthstones on the underside of the ring (peridot, emerald and sapphire). Meghan debuted the revised ring not long after welcoming Prince Archie at Trooping the Colour in the summer of 2019.
Gold Band
Lately, the mom of two has been making appearances and dining with friends in California sans engagement ring. In May, the duchess appeared with her husband and mother Doria Ragland at the Ms. Foundation Awards in New York without her usual custom sparkler. And recently, she’s been spotted dining with wellness blogger Kadi Lee and poet Cleo Wade wearing only her Welsh gold band.
It’s not completely unusual for the duchess to remove her wedding ring or leave it at home. Meghan has removed the accessory in the past as she did in Tonga in October 2018.
Fans have speculated Meghan’s missing jewelry is due to the fact that the duchess wanted to resize her engagement ring or have the bauble cleaned. Still, others have assumed Meghan decided against wearing the pricey piece for safety, practicality or modesty. Recently, sources told Page Six that Meghan was merely going without the wedding ring as “it was being fixed.”
