Fit for a fairytale, Princess Kate and Prince William’s love story is a breathtaking royal romance come to life. Filled with highs and lows, makeups and breakups, plus a legendary final chapter — a dazzling wedding attended by celebrities, prime ministers, and world leaders — the real life romance is one for the history books.

It’s no great surprise that with such a special story as the backdrop to their relationship and marriage, there has been a significant amount of affectionate gift giving along the way. Believed to have one time struggled in the romance department (apparently gifting Kate a pair of boring binoculars), Prince William has since made up for his faltering Royal Romeo efforts.

Here are 8 Pieces of Jewelry Prince William has gifted to wife Kate Middleton:

1. Sapphire Engagement Ring

Prince William popped the question with this 12-carat Ceylon sapphire ring while he and Kate were on a private safari vacation in Africa. The heir to the throne officially asked the Berkshire beauty to be his wife on October 20, 2010. The blonde prince got on bended knee to ask for the hand of his lady love on the shores of one of Mount Kenya’s glacial lakes high atop the slopes near their picturesque vacation lodge at Lewa Private Estate.

A highly reflective blue bauble estimated to be worth a reported half million dollars, this sparkling sapphire once belonged to the late Princess Diana. Kate’s oval shaped sapphire engagement ring is surrounded by 14 diamonds and set on a band of 18-karat pure white gold.

2. Ballon Bleu de Cartier

While not one of the most glittery gifts from Prince William, Kate’s Cartier timepiece is still very valuable. The $6000 stainless steel bracelet watch from the famous French jewelry house was a gift from the future king on the Wales’ wedding anniversary in 2014.

Echoing the style of Princess Diana’s watch, Kate’s classic wrist accessory is accented with a sapphire stone and distinctive blue hands on the dial. Perfectly complementing her sapphire engagement ring, the watch also pairs well with William’s beloved Cartier Omega Seamaster 300M.

3. Annoushka Eclipse Eternity Band

Described as a ‘push present’ following the birth of Prince George of Wales in 2013, Kate’s diamond pave set eternity band is worth $1900. The ring is crafted with 18-carat white gold and has 0.23ct diamonds covering the full surface of the band.

4. Cartier Trinity Long Station Necklace

Reportedly a gift for Princess Kate’s 30th birthday from her beloved princely suitor, this lavish and luxe necklace graced Kate’s nape at an Olympics exhibition at the National Portrait Gallery in July 2012. Priced around $60,000, the 18-carat chain features pavé diamonds as well as three interlocking circles of sparkling pink, yellow and white gold.

5. Kiki McDonough Green Tourmaline, Green Amethyst and Diamond Earrings

One of Princess Kate’s most decadent pairs of earrings are these sparklers from the British jeweler Kiki McDonough’s Special Editions Collection. A gift for the mother of his children, Prince William commissioned the special earrings to celebrate the birth of their first daughter Princess Charlotte in May 2015. The colorful pale green and purple earrings did not appear on the princess in public until a royal tour of India and Bhutan in 2016.

The $4500 sparklers feature green tourmaline and green amethyst stones encircled by diamonds all set in yellow gold.

6. Promise Ring

Before that sizable sapphire, there was a much more modest piece occupying space in Kate’s jewelry chest. The pining prince wanted to make sure his “Babykins” Catherine would be ready to make things official one day so he opted to buy her a rose gold ring designed with pearls (William’s birthstone in June) and two garnets (Kate’s January birthstone).

A ring signifying commitment and fidelity as well as a pledge for lifelong love and loyalty, Kate was spotted wearing this ring at graduation from college in June 2005 (six years before the Wales would wed) following completion of an Art History degree at St. Andrews University in Scotland. The brunette beauty wore the ring on her middle finger during her youth and even endearingly re-wore the piece on royal duty at Great Tower Scout Camp and in a Max Mara grey wrap dress for a Hope House visit both in 2013.

7. Kiki McDonough Green Amethyst Oval Drop and Diamond Hoop Earrings

A Christmas gift that more than made up for William’s bad binocular present, these shiny 5-carat pear cut earrings were first spotted on Catherine’s lovely lobes during the holiday period in 2011. Thought to be a Christmas gift to celebrate their first yuletide season with the royal family, these oval green amethyst drops set the prince back around $3200.

8. Daniella Draper Personalized Midnight Moon Necklace in Gold

According to reports, this jewelry piece was a gift for Kate’s 38th birthday. The 9-carat pendant necklace is inscribed with the initials of all of Kate’s children —- Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis plus is designed with three small sparkling diamonds.

Made using recycled gold, this $1600 piece is hand engraved and represents the full moon (with the Wales children symbolically being the three stars).
