It was a milestone day for the Wales family yesterday — Prince Louis celebrated his sixth birthday while Princess Kate received a distinguished new honor.
On Tuesday at St. George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle, the reigning monarch bestowed upon the princess the Royal Companion of the Order of the Companions of Honour. Founded by King George V in 1917, the special order recognizes accomplishments and achievements in the arts and sciences, the field of medicine as well as public service. A significant royal appointment, this historic honor implies the king’s ‘royal seal of approval’ and signifies his appreciation for Kate’s dedicated duty and service to the Crown.
Though other public professionals and government officials like Winston Churchill, Stephen Hawking, Anna Wintour and Sir Elton John have also received the honor, Kate is the first in the Windsor family.
As the only British royal family member to receive the title in its 100-year history, the princess is the only senior royal officially appointed to the Order of the Companions of Honour.
A validation of her hard work and a recognition for her outstanding public service, the special award marks a significant endorsement from King Charles. Holding his daughter-in-law in great esteem and paying tribute to her service and sacrifice to the monarchy marks a milestone moment for Kate and her Crown career.
In other royal news, Prince Louis celebrated his sixth birthday. A new photo of the cheeky youngster was released through the Kensington Royal social media accounts on April 23rd.
In the new photo taken by his mother, the Princess of Wales, the young heir is wearing a Trotters Thomas Brown Boys shirt called the ‘Oliver.’
The 100% cotton shirt features a relaxed collar with no buttons, a traditional button front and the brand’s signature Thomas Brown elephant logo.
The preppy plaid shirt was also seen on his older brother Prince George in a photo taken of the late Queen Elizabeth with 10 of her great-grandchildren snapped by Princess Kate in August 2022.
In addition, the adorable prince was pictured lying on the grass wearing navy shorts and no shoes. As youngsters, the boys in the royal family typically wear chino or dress shorts until they’re around 8-years-old at which point they adapt the ‘royal way’ of dressing in slacks or trousers.
Prince Louis’ new birthday photo is reminiscent of his other outdoor snapshots including photos taken of the fourth-in-line to the throne on a bike, at the beach, with finger paint in the forest and riding in a wheelbarrow.
