Often tasked with looking flawless while greeting Heads of State during the ceremonial welcome for leaders to the UK, Kate Middleton never fails to impress with her diplomatic dressing during official visits.

The princess often wears colorful fashions as she greets foreign Heads of State in the UK while representing the monarch. 

Over the years, the princess has worn distinguished dress coats and long tailored toppers. She often wears colors from the flag of the visiting country and never misses the chance to practice her perfect curtsy during the proceedings.

Singapore State Visit (2014)

For the Singapore State Visit, the princess made her first public appearance in two months following the big announcement of her second pregnancy.

While awaiting little Princess Charlotte, Kate was glowing as she attend the ceremonial welcome ceremony for Singapore’s President Tony Tan Keng Yam at the start of a state visit at Horse Guards Parade in central London in October 2014.

Despite suffering from Hyperemesis Gravidarum, the British beauty was well enough to join The President of Singapore, Tony Tan Keng Yam and his wife at the Royal Garden Hotel. 

For the occasion, the princess wore an Alexander McQueen bespoke grey box pleated A-Lline coat.

Hailing from McQueen’s Spring 2015 Collection, the designer coat boasts a fitted bodice, sharp structured shoulders and a flared skirt. She paired the ready-to-wear design with chic coordinating accessories including a Jane Taylor teardrop beret hat and black Prada pumps along with a Jenny Packham boxed suede clutch. She finished the look with Annoushka Pearl Earrings and a diamond Mappin & Webb necklace.

South Africa State Visit (2022)

On the first state visit of his reign, King Charles III played hospitable host to President Cyril Ramaphosa.

For the official welcome kicking off a three-day visit, Kate donned a bespoke berry colored coat dress by Emilia Wickstead.

The elegant pleated coatdress paired perfectly with a pillbox hat by Sean Barrett; the entire look had echoes of the style aesthetic of fashion icon Jackie Kennedy. 

Staying dedicated to single-color styling, the princess accessorized with her Mulberry Bayswater clutch in a cranberry shade. And for footwear she opted for her Royale Burgundy high high heel pumps from Gianvito Rossi.

The princess completed the look with glittering jewelry including Princess Diana’s Collingwood Pearl earrings and the Prince of Wales feather brooch pendant with a swinging emerald pendant.

South Korean State Visit (2023)

The princess looked flawless as she helped King Charles host South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol and his wife Kim Keon Hee on a state visit in late November 2023.

Wearing a striking scarlet red coat featuring a large oversized bow embellishment, the princess was on hand to help King Charles host the second state visit of his reign.

Kate and William traveled with the President and First Lady to Horse Guards Parade where the group was formally received by King Charles and Queen Camilla.

For the event, Kate wore a red knee-length dress with a matching caped coat from Catherine Walker. She donned her beloved ‘Beau Tie’ coat as well as a new wool cape in a coordinating red shade. 

The royal beauty finished the monochromatic red outfit with a Jane Taylor Decima wide brim hat in red felt. In addition, she accessorized with her red Miu Miu clutch bag featuring a bow on the front flap.

For a finishing touch, Gianvito Rossi pumps in a lipstick red ‘granta’ shade and Princess Diana’s sapphire drop earrings completed the look.

Qatar State Visit (2024)

Dressing in head to toe burgundy, Kate paid homage to the flag of Qatar and its maroon and white design for attending the Ceremonial Welcome at Horse Guards Parade for greeting the The Amir of the State of Qatar on his State Visit to the United Kingdom on December 3rd, 2024.

For the visit, Kate wore a bespoke burgundy longline coat by Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen. Later, she changed to another berry coat and swapped the welcome ensemble for an Eponine London midi coat dress. 

During the welcome ceremony, Kate wore a Sahar Millinery Teardrop hat in burgundy accented with a bow detail. In addition, she carried her Chanel quilted burgundy flap bag with an enamel handle.

To show off a bit of royal heritage, she donned the Queen’s Bahrain pearl drop earrings and her Four-Row Japanese pearl choker necklace.
