The Princess of Wales spent her 44th birthday enjoying a girls lunch at a quaint French Bistro in Hungerford. Delighted restaurant owners and patrons got a royal surprise when Kate and her mother Carole Middleton and sister Pippa Matthews stopped by The Funghi Club on January 9th.
Designed as a French cafe, the charming dining spot boasts a colorful glass case of speciality desserts and pastries. While the menu offers French classics including croissants and baguettes, there are many breakfast items to choose from like poached eggs, bagels and crepes.
Described by the staff of the Berkshire bistro as “charming, radiant and gracious” — Kate impressed locals and the Funghi team with her beauty and poise.
While it’s not been reported what the trio of ladies ate while dining at the cozy bistro or how long they spent chatting and eating, the neighborhood favorite is renowned for its coffee, mimosas and light egg and pastry dishes.
The Funghi Club Instagram page also reveals a broad selection of tarts, soups and sandwiches. And the restaurant is rated nearly 5 stars on Google.
