Climbing to new heights! The Princess of Wales showed off her athleticism and determination by completing the National Three Peaks Challenge in an effort to tackle a new feat following her cancer diagnosis two years ago in March 2024.

Proving to herself that she could survive and thrive following her battle with the disease, the princess took the opportunity to journey on the 23 mile trek to raise funds for the Royal Marsden Cancer Charity, the organization affiliated with the hospital where she underwent her cancer treatment.

In an impressive feat of physical and mental endurance, the mom of three covered a total of 23 miles and 3,064 meters of elevation—she climbed 1,345 meters on Ben Nevis in Scotland, 1,085 meters on Mount Snowdon and 978 meters on Scafell Pike in England.

The Princess began the challenge on Saturday night and finished 24 hours later. She made the arduous journey solo over the weekend of June 27th -28th. Of those who tackle the challenging climb only 40% of walkers successfully complete summiting all three peaks in the 24 hour period.

The princess completed the challenge alone, but with the support of the Mountain Rescue Service, and was greeted at the foot of Mount Snowdon by William, George, Charlotte, Louis, Carole and Michael Middleton, as well as her brother James, when she finished.

The Princess of Wales was photographed at the summit of Ben Nevis, Scotland’s highest peak.

The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity launched a dedicated fundraising page so that people across the United Kingdom could contribute and make donations. The funds raised for the charity will help more people with cancer benefit from holistic care.

Kate’s solo hike supported her mission to raise funds for alternative healthcare treatment and supportive integrative medicine.

In a personal message posted after completing the challenge, the princess said she wants to raise awareness of the disease’s deeper impact and the importance of holistic healthcare.

The Peaks Challenge is symbolic reminder of Kate’s long journey to wellness and the grit, determination and courage required to return to full health. In an ode to her resilience and remarkable comeback following a devastating diagnosis, the treacherous trek speaks to her stamina, strength and tenacity.
