While the royal family will soon assemble at Balmoral Castle for their annual summer retreat, there is hope Princess Kate might make an appearance at the Olympics prior to the family gathering.
As the games will only last another 9 days, there are rumors that just like with Wimbledon — the princess may appear for one of the final days of the sporting competition held in Paris this year.
Here are 5 Signs Kate Middleton Will Attend the Olympics in Paris:
1. She Promised A Few Summer Appearances
Thus far, Kate has appeared only twice over the summer on June 15th at Trooping the Colour and July 14th at Wimbledon — she’s yet to appear in August. In her health update issued in mid-June she said she was keen to make more public appearances and would be aiming for a few summer outings.
2. Many Other Royal VIPs Have Attended
Since the games are being held in Europe, many royal families have supported their athletes during the famous sporting event. Queen Letizia of Spain has cheered on the water polo team, Princess Anne has presented medals for the women’s rowing winners, Princess Leonor of Spain watched fencing and swimming, Queen Maxima cheered on rowing competitors, Prince Albert and Princess Charlene attended opening ceremonies, Queen Mathilde of Belgium took a selfie with medal winners in cycling, Grand Duchess Maria Teresa of Luxembourg watched the artistic gymnastics and Queen Mary of Denmark gave hugs to freestyle relay swimmers.
3. The Media is Hinting at an Appearance
The Express released an exclusive report this Wednesday that claimed Princess Kate was planning an Olympics outing with a public appearance scheduled “within days.” Furthermore, the publication states that the princess will be at a newer (and lesser known) competition such as skateboarding, breakdancing or sport climbing. Previously, she and William visited Paris in March 2017.
4. She Would Likely Travel with Prince William
It seems much more likely that the princess would make the journey to Paris with her husband who is expected to be traveling to the City of Light next week. The heir to the throne will reportedly watch Team GB (Great Britain and Northern Ireland) compete in speed climbing. The sport climbing competition runs from August 5th to August 10th; the event is held at Le Bourget Sport Climbing Venue in the northeastern suburbs of Paris.
5. She Loves Sporting Competitions and Watching the Olympics
During the Olympics held in London in 2012, Kate attended around a dozen events over the course of two weeks. She’s an amateur athlete herself and knows how to sail, rock climb, row, dive, play tennis and ski. It’s been reported that the princess especially loved playing field hockey during her younger years. Thus, it would seem probable that Kate would want to support British athletes at this year’s Olympic games.
