Having a Cinderella moment! The Duchess of Cambridge stepped out for the BAFTA awards with Prince William in an ethereal white Alexander McQueen gown with a grecian inspired one shoulder detail. Kate managed to look effortlessly elegant as she and William arrived as the last guests of the evening to Britain’s version of the Academy Awards.
While Kate’s red carpet arrival to the star studded event at Royal Albert Hall in a chiffon dress was not a major departure from some of her other BAFTA ensembles, the angelic color of the sweeping floor length style still managed to feel fresh and modern.
With hair styled into a neat updo, Kate showed off some major bling in the way of Princess Diana’s South Sea pearl and diamond drop earrings that the late princess wore to Royal Albert Hall in 1991.
It’s also interesting to note that Princess Diana was very fond of one shoulder styles and frequently wore dresses baring her shoulders, arms and décolletage.
As we noted on our Instagram page, Kate’s look is very reminiscent of a white dress worn by the late Princess Diana.
Duchess Kate’s dress appears to be based on this Alexander McQueen one-shoulder embroidered evening gown. The dress features silk crepe with a drape shoulder detail and is crafted from swathes of lilac silk chiffon. Its billowing floor-sweeping hem is balanced by a cinched waistband and boned bodice.
In addition, Kate opted for the Queen’s Quatrefoil bracelet which she has worn in the past to evening functions and galas.
The duchess completed the style with a pair of glittery silver Jimmy Choo Romy 100 pumps.
Kate also carried what’s believed to be a custom clutch from Alexander McQueen.
Inside the theater, Kate and William seemed happy and relaxed and looked to be enjoying each other’s company.
