The Duchess of Cambridge has recently been called ‘The Queen of Arts’ and she’s living up to her new title. This evening she’s opening Victoria and Albert’s new photography center since becoming patron of the museum in March. This will likely be an enjoyable engagement for the duchess as she was an Art History major at St. Andrews University where she is believed to have first met future husband Prince William, a fellow art buff with the same major.
Today the duchess is touring the museum’s inaugural art exhibition called: Collecting Photography: From Daguerreotype To Digital. The new exhibit explores photography from its invention in the 19th century to present day. Kate is tasked with unveiling a plaque to mark the center’s official opening.
For tonight’s museum visit Kate opted for one of her go to designers Erdem. She selected the Iman tweed dress (reminiscent of her Gucci tweed mini dress from the year before) from the designer’s 2018 Spring Collection. The dress choice is significant and honors Kate’s royal roots as the gown is part of Erdem Moralioglu’s Spring 2018 collection. According to the website The Line, the dress pays homage to Queen Elizabeth II. For a little style inspiration, the designer researched the Queen’s Windsor Castle wardrobe and was inspired by Her Majesty’s royal ensembles and young Elizabeth’s love of jazz and dance.
The Iman dress is made in Italy and features an off-the-shoulder dress style crafted from Prince of Wales jacquard and is disheveled with frayed edges. The neckline features pearl-embellished buttons, brooches, and is finished with a demure, fluted skirt. The dress is currently sold out.

The duchess added Erdem floral hoop earrings to her evening ensemble. The earrings are described as: “Elegant, refined, and feminine–which illustrate Erdem’s attraction to romanticism. This accessory is defined by the layering of numerous mother-of-pearl beads with orange, black, and gray crystals.”
The duchess added merlot accessories to complete her fall-friendly and regal ensemble including the J Box Jimmy Choo clutch. Specifically, she selected the Bordeaux Velvet Clutch Bag with Silver Hardware. The bag can be custom ordered HERE
Kate completed the look with bespoke Romy pumps in burgundy velvet.
The pointed burgundy pumps match Kate’s dress beautifully and have a rich and luxurious look with a velvet finish.
