According to reports from Page Six as well as the Daily Mail, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex made one of their first public appearances since stepping down from their royal roles in Florida at a private event staged by the multinational investment bank and financial services holding company JP Morgan. The couple were spotted at 1 Hotel on Thursday night with a large security entourage. A historic oceanfront hotspot, the 1 Hotel uses reclaimed materials and offers guests two swimming pools, on-site dining and a private beach area.
The Sun reports that the royal took JP Morgan’s private Gulfstream jet to the event. And flight details by Flight Aware reveal the plane took off from Vancouver Airport 12.10pm on Wednesday and landed in Palm Beach at 8.03pm that night. The duo were in town as guests of a summit hosted by JP Morgan and thought to be keynote speakers–though sources have confirmed only Harry gave a speech at the event.
According to the Sun, “Meghan joined her close pal Gayle King at the conference as well as rap star Meek Mill and New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft. Harry and Meghan reportedly took to a stage with US tech businessman Michael Rubin and Philanthropist Clara Wu for a talk on US prison charity, Reform Alliance.” The Daily Mail reveals Meghan was introduced by Gayle and then Meghan spoke a few words about her husband before he went on stage. The prince reportedly revealed his mental health struggles and shared intimate information with the audience. Harry revealed the toll of his mother’s passing and shared that he has been in therapy for seven years to cope with the pain of his grief.
Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez also attended the finance focused event. Magic Johnson posted a tweet with the baseball icon which read, “Today in Miami, Billionaire and Philanthropist Robert Smith and I had an amazing discussion on building black wealth, investing in urban America, and education at the JP Morgan Wealth conference. We also caught up with Baseball Legend and Businessman Alex Rodriguez.”
During their time in the Sunshine State, Harry and Meghan are believed to have stayed at the home of Serena Williams in Palm Beach.
