Both the Princess of Wales and Duchess of Sussex have colorful wardrobes filled with rainbow hued items from purple trouser suits to lime colored sheaths. Still, both royal women often perpetually pass on specific clothing shades and styles.

Meghan embraces the Hollywood code of dressing –relying on less standout shades incorporating neutral and dark colors while Kate embraces the late Queen Elizabeth’s sartorial system and often opts for bright and bold shades. Still, there are hues that these Crown ambassadors wear infrequently.

Here are 5 Clothing Colors Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle Rarely Wear:

1. Bright Orange

While Meghan is known for wearing rust-brown suits and blouses as well as gold shaded midis and even a neon yellow body con, she’s not one to step out on the celebrity circuit in anything orange. However, the Princess of Wales has rocked a silk top in tangerine and a sweater set in ‘spice’ (dark orange) but she’s not inclined to wear the shade very often.

2. Black

While the Princess of Wales will wear black for memorial services and somber occasions, she infrequently wears black ensembles on royal duty. On occasion, she has donned a black LBD for formal occasions like an evening in Paris or state reception in New Zealand (2014). Duchess Meghan however, will rock black jeans and sweaters and has a plentiful wardrobe filled with casual and formal black dresses.

3. Metallics

Both Kate and Meghan shy away from wearing shiny clothing on the regular. The Princess of Wales has worn a Vampire’s Wife dress with a green sheen and sparkling silver and gold gowns but does not regularly appear in super reflective clothing. On the other hand, Meghan has worn gold and brocade dresses but is not prone to wearing silver or liquid metal fashion very often.

4. Pink

The Duchess of Sussex shies away from cotton candy colors and has only one Posse dress in the shade ‘pink salt’ in her wardrobe. Just a few other pink floral dresses and salmon shaded styles occupy her closet. On the other hand, Princess Kate has embraced pink styles in the past and loves a rosy pink jumper or blush colored midi dress.

5. Neons

While the Princess of Wales has experimented with wearing optic white, electric green and even wore neon yellow shorts in her pre-marriage days, she’s not often pictured in fluorescent tones and prefers muted monochromatic looks or primary colors. Meghan has worn a bright yellow Carolina Herrera column gown bordering on neon, and has worn a lemon skirt set, but mostly refrains from wearing super shocking shades.
