A rare stone in nature, the colorful citrine gem is typically found in pale yellow, amber or golden orange. Believed to bear the properties of the sun and its warmth and energy, citrine quartz is typically worn to counteract negative emotions and boost confidence.

Since ancient times citrine stones have been thought to attract abundance and prosperity. Called the “merchants stone” or “money stone” — the November birthstone radiates positive energy. (Interestingly, King Charles’ birthday falls in the month of November.)

Metaphysical properties of the stone include helping the wearer heal the kidney, digestive and urinary systems. The stone is thought to remedy depression and combat fears while promoting calm and confidence.

Princess Kate has been wearing citrine jewelry for years. While spending time with sister Pippa Middleton enjoying the London nightlife scene as a bachelorette, she was spotted wearing a large square shaped citrine cocktail ring. The Middleton sisters after hours fun in 2008 wasn’t the only time she was photographed wearing the canary colored ring — she was also snapped at Lady Rose Windsor and George Gilman’s wedding at the Queen’s Chapel at St James’ Palace in July 2008 sporting the accessory on her middle finger. Adding a little sparkle to her Lindka Cierach dress and jacket, she paired the chunky citrine ring with a three strand pearl bracelet and carried a sparkly navy John Lewis sequin clutch to the society wedding.

Kate continues to embrace the magic and manifestation of the citrine gem and has acquired multiple pieces of this sunny stone.

Here are 7 Pieces of Kate Middleton’s Favorite Citrine Jewelry:

1. Kiki McDonough Cushion Citrine Drops and Hoops

The princess first stepped out at the Cheltenham Festival in March 2013 wearing the Kiki cushion citrine drops and hoops. The 18 carat yellow gold drop earrings would appear only four more times following their debut; the last sighting of the rich yellow earrings was in September 2023. Kate most frequently pairs the detachable drop earrings with the corresponding diamond huggie hoops but has on occasion worn the solid gold hoops with the $1143 yellow square citrine. The versatile design offers the opportunity to change the hanging stone to any of Kiki’s colorful gems.

2. Mystery Citrine Cocktail Ring

Once speculated to be a push present, the provenance of Kate’s emerald cut ring remains unknown. Since the princess has worn the chunky citrine ring since the mid 2000s, it’s not possible it was a gift for having given birth to a royal heir. Instead, the gem is thought to be a family treasure, gift or personal purchase. Kate wore the sizable statement ring for her 26th birthday festivities, Harry and Meghan’s wedding as well as donning the accessory for two outings at Wimbledon (2018 and 2019).

3. Kiki Eden Citrine and Diamond Flower Drop Earrings

Priced around $3684, these 18 carat lemon colored earrings have the glam and gloss of impressive imperial jewels. With a sunny stone hanging from an Eden pave diamond flower, these stunning showstoppers are perfect for Kate’s royal jewelry box. Worn just three times total (including for their premiere at a garden party in Northern Ireland in 2016), Kate most recently stepped out in these floral earrings for the Wimbledon Ladies Final tennis tournament in July 2022.

4. Hamilton & Inches Flora Drop Earrings

These Scottish made earrings are handcrafted in workshops in Edinburgh and consist of marquise cut citrine, cabachon cut rutilated quartz and round brilliant cut diamonds all mounted on an 18 carat yellow gold post and scroll fitment. The luxury jeweler’s Flora Collection also includes matching stud Flora citrine earrings and a Flora cuff yellow gold bracelet. The princess debuted the dangling earrings in May 2021 and wore them on a total of three occasions that month while visiting Scotland.

5. Kiki McDonough Citrine Pear Drop Earrings

Since 2009, Kate has frequently worn these simple and elegant citrine pear drop earrings. With a price tag of just $882, the royal beauty has gotten her money’s worth out of these 18 carat yellow gold earrings. First photographed on the princess a few years before marrying Prince William in June 2009, the future Queen has worn these sparklers on nearly 50 occasions. The earrings have a special and sentimental place in her royal jewelry collection as they were worn by the brunette beauty on her first ever royal engagement in Anglesey in Wales in February 2011 and while leaving the hospital with Prince George in July 2013; she’s worn them for tours abroad and trips to California, Canada and Australia.
