The arctic and airy aquamarine has become synonymous with the royal family. Worn by the late Princess Diana in the form of a chunky cocktail ring, this beautiful blue gemstone is named for its watery hue.

While the Duchess of Sussex inherited Lady Diana’s 30-carat emerald cut aquamarine ring valued around $90,000, Princess Kate has developed her own collection of stunning oceanic aquamarine jewelry.

And though the princess owns many beautiful blue baubles (more than a few blue topaz pieces), it’s her small collection of aquamarine gems which is especially intriguing.

Here are 5 of Kate Middleton’s Best Aquamarine Jewelry Moments:

  1. Halcyon Days Maya Gold Torque Bracelet in Aquamarine

Ancient warriors often wore torque necklaces as a sign of their status and nobility, while kings and rulers would don ‘torc’ pieces for special events and sacred ceremonies. During the Bronze Age, many Celtic warriors sported them as decorative and symbolic show pieces around their necks and wrists prior to going into battle.

The princess has embraced the adjustable open-ended bracelet and recently donned the Halcyon Maya torque bracelet in aquamarine. A twisted metal cuff bracelet with a hint of art deco flair, this bracelet is handmade in England and features 18-carat gold plated brass which can be twisted to perfectly mold to the wrist.

Finished with two aquamarine cabochon aquamarine stones on at both ends, the bohemian bracelet can be worn as a single band or stacked with other bangles. The princess first appeared in the accessory in January 2020 for the launch of her 5 Big Questions survey while visiting London, Cardiff and Surrey. She has worn the bracelet on 10 occasions thus far.

2. Carousel Jewels Aquamarine Delicate Orb Earrings

Believed to represent the mythology of mermaids and their underwater treasures, aquamarine makes a soft and sophisticated style statement. Named the “sailors gem” as Greek maritime explorers would bring the stone onboard as a talisman of good luck and a way to appease Poseidon, this “seawater stone” is believed to smooth troubled waters and calm seas.

In addition, she wore them with a custom Catherine Walker silk blue floral coat for Trooping the Colour 2015.

The classic earrings have also been seen on Kate for Easter Sunday Service in Sydney in April 2014, Garter Day in June 2014 and Commonwealth day in March 2016. Recently, she wore the mystery earring with an LK Bennett Bennett Madison dress for engagements in Cambridgeshire in June 2022.
