She’s lauded for her ability to repeat gowns, recycle handbags and reinvent her styles from decades ago. Princess Kate has truly mastered the art of the royal rewear. And one of the penny pinching princess’ favorite ways to refresh a throwback outfit is with new shoes, accessories or outerwear.

Over the years, Kate has experimented with different dress silhouettes, patterns and prints as well as switched up brands and designers. Still, the mom of three knows that the general public is keen to see her be the glamorous future queen and relatable royal all in one complete princess package.

And Kate knows she’ll ingratiate herself with the masses with a strategic styling strategy: the repeat outfit. Over the years, Kate has worn many ensembles once or twice but few have left her closet more than four times — these are those looks — her outfit outliers.

Here are 7 Outfits Kate Middleton Has Worn Four Times or More:

1.Stella McCartney Ridley Stretch Cady Dress in Blue — 6 Total Wears

This heavy jersey dress might seem out of place in Kate’s contemporary closet. A classic and formfitting sheath, this ultra-blue dress is perfect for dressing up or down. Adding a sophisticated suit jacket like a classic blazer gives the dress more wearability for outdoor events like the Commonwealth Games or visits to Royal Air Force bases.

2. Luisa Spagnoli Red Peplum Skirt Suit — 4 Total Wears

Borrowing from the late Princess Diana’s lookbook dedicated to brightly colored skirt suits with a belted peplum waist, Princess Kate looked like a royal role model in her classic Windsor workwear.

The princess donned this jacket and pencil skirt set from the Italian label Luisa Spagnoli four times total — including for a pre-marriage royal outing to St. Andrews University in 2011, for a walkabout in New Zealand in 2014 as well as for a Christmas lunch at Buckingham Palace in 2015. She last wore the scarlet look in February 2017 at a primary school.

3. Alexander McQueen Ivory Open Neck Coat — 4 Total Wears

At nearly $3000, this coat rightfully warrants more than a single wear. Kate has shown her affinity for reworking her wardrobe and upcycling, so it’s no great surprise that she’s drawn to dress coats she can repurpose and reuse.

The princess has worn this open neck coat with a fit and flare silhouette for special occasions like Princess Charlotte’s christening in July 2015, Trooping the Colour in June 2016 as well as repeating the coat for a tour stop in Belgium. In addition, she wore the topper for Anzac day in April 2022.

4. Zara Textured Double-Breasted Blazer in Red — 4 Total Wears

If there’s one high street brand that’s become synonymous with the princess — it’s Zara. Having worn the Spanish label’s blue pleated dress for a victory lap across the Buckingham Palace lawn following her globally celebrated wedding, the princess has become a frequent shopper at the fast fashion store and seeks out their smart blazers, dark denim and statement accessories.

The mom of three has appeared in the brand’s boucle-like red blazer on four different outings including for football matches, video calls and school visits. She loves donning the red blazer with white or tan undershirts and slim camisoles.

Kate has worn this tweed coatdress for four royal outings. Featuring a braided trim along the front and around the neckline, this stylish coat cost the princess around $900 and she’s definitely gotten her money’s worth.

The princess stepped out in the coat in March 2012 for an outing with the late Queen Elizabeth to visit Fortnum and Mason, the famous grocer on Piccadilly. She later rewore the blue topper for a visit to Nottingham in June 2012, followed by an appearance at a friends wedding in March 2014 and finally for the opening of a charity shop in Norfolk in March 2016.

7. Alexander McQueen Cornflower Blue Belted Coat –4 Total Wears

At just over $3000, Princess Kate wanted to make sure she kept her cost-saving credentials firmly in place and thus, wore this military minded midi coat on four occasions.

The utility trench-like coat offers the princess conservative coverage with an air of regal sophistication. Kate appeared in the sleek belted topper twice in 2014 for commemorative ceremonies including for a war memorial at Marlborough in New Zealand. She repeated the look at RAF church in London in February 2016 and later donned the blue coat at a shipyard in Birkenhead docks, Merseyside.

  1. Princess Catherine adds class to whatever she wears. She’s an amazing person, woman, mother, wife & Princess!
I’d like to wish her a very successful recovery. I do hope she doesn’t have to endure too much suffering. I’d like to say no suffering, but I’m a realist. And cancer is never without some.
Hope you’ll be able to return soon.
